SEPTEMBER 9 2021
i had my first renaissance/enlightenment and biology class. my ren./enlight. class was really fun. we went outside and looked at renaissance architecture around valencia. it reminded me a lot of mr.rowland, my ap european history teacher, so i sent him an email. then i accidentally showed up late to my biology class because i went to the wrong building and i got the seat next to the a/c and i froze to death the full 3 hours (pictured in fourth picture). i'm so lucky i brought this little sweater because my hands were purple by the end of the class. after class, daniela and i went to the torres de serrano that are in front of our apartment. we took a bunch of pictures, which was really nice because that always makes me feel less homesick. also, i got a surprise text from the reception that i had a package. chara had sent me the freshest red roses. they are so pretty and beautifully packaged. they smell so fresh, too. it had the sweetest note attached. although long distance sometimes feels impossible, we're figuring out the best way to show each other we care about the other. i miss him so much but life is so busy by the time i have time to call him, i have something to go to or someone to talk to.
at night, daniela and i went out with our roommate, katiana. we took a cab to the university center where all the students hang out. everything was packed but we ended up finding a table out of pure luck and we drank mojitos & beer. it's crazy how easy we can order alcohol here. i didn't even get asked about my age and it was so normal to be hanging out at a bar on a thursday night. then we met up with some more students from FSU and we got into a club called “marbella”. there we met some locals, one of them was named aitana. she invited us to a plan with her friends and we walked around the city with them. we finally got to the musuem of arts and sciences where we met a bunch of people from all around the world. we walked home that night; it was really far but we made it and we ran into more FSU students on the way home.
